If you are going to visit Playa del Carmen for the first time, there are things you should not miss, today I am going to give you 3 recommendations for activities to do in Playa del Carmen.

1.- Visit the archaeological parks

There are many archaeological and ecological parks in the Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen is at the center of all. However, visiting all the parks can be somewhat expensive, and you will need a whole day to visit each one. Then I will recommend you the favorites of the locals of Playa. (There are many parks, I will mention 3 of them and if you want more, you can google them, they are all very popular)

Xcaret

Xcaret is the nature park in Playa del Carmen where you and your family will live Mexico in more than 50 natural and cultural attractions.

I’ll leave you this video so you can take a look at the park:

Xel-ha

Xel-ha is 50 kilometers from Playa del Carmen, it is the largest natural aquarium in the world and one of the Natural Wonders of Mexican geography.

This video will show you what the park is like:

Xplor

It is a park with extreme activities, but very exciting. Descend into the depths of the earth and explore the underground world full of stalactites and stalagmites, whether walking, swimming, paddling with your hands on a raft, or on our new activity: Underground Expedition, where you’ll be exploring, sliding and having fun in an adventure beneath the Earth surrounded by crystal-clear water and jaw-dropping caverns. Or go back to the surface and drive an amphibious vehicle through exciting paths surrounded by the Mayan jungle. Adventures are all around… where will you begin?

2.- Visit the cenotes

Cenotes are natural deep water wells, which are fed by the filtration of rain and by the currents of underground rivers that are born in the heart of the earth. That is why when swimming in a cenote you feel so much freshness. Sheltered by the jungle, swimming in a cenote is an adventure that you can’t miss during your vacation in Playa del Carmen.

3.- Visit the fifth avenue

Fifth Avenue is a 4 km street that is full of restaurants, clothing stores, handicrafts and in general all kinds of businesses. It is ideal if you want to take memories back to your home.
